Woke up this morning to no power and freezing rain. I’m very grateful for fireplaces, flexible kiddos and quick responses from our electric company!
Add Winterhouse Hotel to fictional houses I’d love to explore! I thoroughly enjoyed the mystery, the books, the puzzles, and the central friendship in this middle grade novel.
Pub date: Feb 2, 2021 Thanks to @netgalley + @zondervan for the #giftedbook.
Praying is a spiritual discipline that doesn’t come naturally to me - do any disciplines actually come naturally to me? Probably not. So I’ve been wanting to read this books for awhile and though we have a physical copy, I listened to this SHORT book recently.
Have you ever read too much on a topic? A couple years ago I read so many WWII novels and despite that they were generally all stellar, I overdid it and haven’t picked one up until I accidentally requested this from NetGalley. I say accidentally because I saw Paris and library (two season pass topics) and didn’t read the description before requesting.
Wow. My first book of 2021 setting the bar high. Bookstagram (specifically @idlewildreads) is solely responsible for me picking up Fable and that’s one of the reasons I love this little slice of the internet.
He may have not realized how much of a reader I was when we were dating but I’m thankful he’s here for it now, Bookstagram Husband duties and all. In his words, Tim is a casual weekend reader who wants to be someone who reads every day. So after buying books (ahem, parenting books) and then continually saying to ourselves - we need to read that book - we decided to make reading and discussing the same book a priority this year.
In order to avoid endless overthinking about these favorites, I just went with initial gut feeling while scanning through my goodreads. Second pass gave me those honorable mentions. Not much separates the two groups. And I was way too lazy to categorize them all. Any of these make your list?
My kids’ new obsession is The Reading Bug podcast (put on by a family owned and operated bookstore in CA). They’re on their fifth episode today which meant I was able to cozy up on my bed with a book, journal and tea. What a treat.
